Galatasaray’s Noa Lang Undergoes Surgery After Anfield Injury; Osimhen Faces Potential Arm Surgery

Galatasaray forward Noa Lang underwent surgery on Thursday morning after sustaining a “serious cut” to his thumb during Wednesday’s Champions League round of 16 clash against Liverpool at Anfield. Fellow Galatasaray player, Victor Osimhen, is also facing a potential surgery after suffering a fractured forearm during the same match.

Lang’s Injury Details

Lang injured his thumb after appearing to cut it on an advertising hoarding while attempting to stabilize himself after tumbling near the Liverpool goal. The injury occurred after he was substituted on at halftime for Osimhen. Galatasaray confirmed the surgery would be performed in Liverpool with the club’s medical team overseeing the procedure. Reports indicate Lang lost a significant amount of blood as a result of the injury.

Some reports from local press have suggested the possibility of a thumb amputation, however, this has not been officially confirmed by the club. Galatasaray is reportedly seeking legal advice and considering filing a formal complaint to UEFA regarding the circumstances of the injury. AS USA reports the club believes the advertising hoarding presented a safety hazard.

Osimhen’s Arm Injury

Victor Osimhen suffered an arm injury during the first half of the match following a collision with Liverpool’s Ibrahima Konaté. He completed the first half despite the injury, but was not able to play in the second half due to the risk of a fracture. ESPN reports that examinations revealed a fracture in his right forearm, and it has been casted. A decision regarding potential surgery will be made in the coming days.

Galatasaray’s Champions League Exit

Galatasaray were defeated 4-0 by Liverpool at Anfield, resulting in a 4-1 aggregate loss in the Champions League round of 16. Liverpool will now face Paris Saint-Germain in the quarterfinals.

Player Statistics

Osimhen has 19 goals and 7 assists in 29 games this season, while Lang, who joined Galatasaray on loan from Napoli in January, has four goal contributions in 11 matches.
