Trump Warns Iran After Israel Strikes South Pars Gas Field

U.S. President Donald Trump stated that Israel conducted an attack on Iran’s South Pars gas field without U.S. Or Qatari involvement. He as well issued warnings to Iran regarding further attacks, threatening a strong response if Qatar’s energy infrastructure is targeted again.

Israel Confirmed as Attacker

According to President Trump, Israel acted independently in striking the South Pars gas field, responding to recent events in the Middle East. He described the action as Israel “violently lashing out” at a major Iranian facility .

Threats of Retaliation

Trump warned that if Iran continues to attack Qatar, particularly the Ras Laffan LNG production facility, the United States would “completely destroy” Iran’s South Pars gas field.

Increased Funding for Military Operations

The Pentagon has requested an additional $200 billion in funding to support the ongoing war against Iran. Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth stated, “It takes money to kill bad guys,” but did not confirm the exact amount of the request. Lawmakers will need to approve the additional funding, but its approval is not guaranteed given the war’s unpopularity.

Iran’s Response and Saudi Arabia’s Position

Iran has threatened “zero restraint” in response to attacks on its energy infrastructure. Saudi Arabia has also stated it “reserves the right to take military action” against Iran.

Previous Attacks

Prior to Trump’s statements, Israel had already attacked Iranian gas facilities at the South Pars field and the port of Assaluyah.

Qatar Targeted

Iran launched overnight strikes targeting Qatari LNG facilities in response to the Israeli attack.
