Former Brigham and Women’s Doctor Faces New Sexual Assault Charges
A former Massachusetts doctor has been indicted on charges of sexually assaulting 11 additional female patients, bringing the total number of alleged victims to over 200. Derrick Todd, 52, of Wayland, previously faced charges related to two other patients and is the subject of a class action lawsuit.
Details of the New Allegations
A Middlesex County grand jury indicted Todd on three counts of rape and seventeen counts of indecent assault and battery. The alleged assaults occurred between 2022 and 2023 while he was practicing at Charles River Medical Associates in Framingham, Massachusetts [1]. The victims ranged in age from 20 to 60.
Prosecutors allege that Todd conducted “unnecessary and excessively prolonged pelvic and breast examinations” and performed procedures for which he lacked proper training or certification [2]. He is as well accused of making inappropriate sexual comments during examinations.
Previous Charges and Lawsuit
Todd was previously arraigned in January 2025 on two counts of rape involving two patients [3]. He voluntarily surrendered his medical license after the initial allegations surfaced.
More than 250 patients have accused Todd of sexual abuse or assault in a class action lawsuit, alleging unnecessary and sexualized examinations [1]. Marianne “Mimi” DiTrani filed a lawsuit in Suffolk Superior Court in 2023 with similar claims.
Statements from Authorities
Middlesex District Attorney Marian Ryan stated, “The allegations outlined in those indictments represent an extraordinary exploitation of a patient’s vulnerability and abuse of a position of trust.” [3] She emphasized that “No person should have to fear for their safety when seeking medical treatment.”
Next Steps
Todd is scheduled to be arraigned on the new charges on March 25 in Middlesex Superior Court [1]. Prosecutors indicated that additional allegations against Todd are being investigated in another county, but have not released further details.
