French Island Woman Charged with Child Abuse

FRENCH ISLAND, Wis. — A French Island woman, Chandra Low, has been charged with one felony count of child abuse. The charges stem from alleged incidents of physical abuse against a 12-year-old girl.

Details of the Alleged Abuse

According to a criminal complaint, the 12-year-old victim reported to police that Chandra Low had physically assaulted her on February 25th. The child alleges that Low hit and punched her, resulting in scratches, bruises, and a bleeding lip. The child further stated that these physical altercations occurred approximately once every one to two weeks, with weekly arguments, and that the abuse began when she was in first or second grade.

Arrest and Current Status

Officers contacted Low at her residence on March 19th. Low denied hitting the child, stating she only blocked the child from leaving the house after the child attempted to do so. Low was subsequently arrested and released on a $2,000 signature bond. Her next court appearance is scheduled for May 11th.
