VfL Waldbreitbach Table Tennis Department Achieves Success

Waldbreitbach – The table tennis department of VfL Waldbreitbach is experiencing a successful period, with both the first and second teams recently competing in the Cup Final 4 of the Koblenz/Neuwied district. The club is preparing for crucial matches in the coming weeks, including promotion and relegation battles.

Second Team Secures Association Cup Qualification

The second team, comprised of Jörg Weißenfels, Schmitz, and Niclas Schneider, secured their place in the final after a 4-2 victory against Oberbieber. They continued their winning streak with a dominant 4-0 win against TTC Erpel, earning them qualification for the Association Cup, which will be held on April 19th in Westerburg.

First Team Dominates in Recent Matches

Simultaneously, the first team faced TTC Rheinbrohl, with Stefan Kunze, Timo Gladki, and Christian Hertling achieving a surprising and decisive victory. They followed this success with a 4-1 win against TTC Olympia Koblenz, claiming the title in the adult B competition. The first team will also compete in the Association Cup in Westerburg, but on April 18th.

Upcoming Matches and Season Outlook

Both teams are set to play home matches on March 21st. The second team will compete for promotion, starting at 3:00 PM, while the first team, after overcoming recent injury setbacks, will aim to secure their position in the district league, beginning at 6:00 PM. According to Jörg Weißenfels, the head of the table tennis department, the first team faces a relegation battle due to several close defeats.

A crucial match for the first team is scheduled for April 25th at 5:00 PM against their direct rivals from Sinzig/Ehlingen. Weißenfels emphasized the importance of this game, stating it will be a “full throttle” effort.
