Hannah Green Makes History with Third Consecutive Tournament Win

World number seven Hannah Green has etched her name in Australian golfing history, becoming the first Australian woman to win three successive international tournaments. The 29-year-old secured victory at the Australian WPGA Championship on Sunday, adding to her recent triumphs at the Australian Open and the HSBC Women’s World Championship in Singapore.

Dominant Performance at the Australian WPGA Championship

Green finished with a two-under-par final round of 69, totaling 16-under par at the Sanctuary Cove Golf and Country Club on the Gold Coast. This performance placed her four shots ahead of the competition. Germany’s Alexandra Forsterling and South Africa’s Casandra Alexander tied for second place at 12-under par.

A Historic Run of Success

“It feels really amazing – it’s been a really crazy month and really special to be able to do this in Australia,” Green stated after her win BBC Sport. Her victory at the Australian WPGA Championship follows her win at the Australian Open in Adelaide, which came after securing her seventh LPGA title at the HSBC Women’s World Championship in Singapore.

Breaking New Ground

No Australian golfer, even the legendary Karrie Webb with her 56 career titles and seven majors, had previously achieved three consecutive international tournament wins. Green deliberately skipped two LPGA tournaments to compete on home soil, a decision that clearly paid off.

What’s Next for Hannah Green?

Green will continue her impressive run at the LPGA Aramco Championship in Las Vegas, starting on April 2nd BBC Sport. She will be aiming for a fourth straight victory as she continues to make her mark on the world of women’s golf.
