Xbox & Netflix: Potential Bundle Could Be Like ‘Game Pass for Shows’

Xbox and Netflix Explore Subscription Bundles as New CEO Prioritizes Growth

Xbox, under the leadership of its new CEO Asha Sharma, is actively exploring potential collaborations with Netflix, including bundled subscription options. This move signals a shift towards reinvigorating growth and appealing to a broader audience, following recent price adjustments to Xbox Game Pass. The discussions come as Microsoft seeks to optimize the value and expansion of its gaming subscription service.

What We Know About the Xbox and Netflix Discussions

According to reports, Sharma and Netflix co-CEO Greg Peters have engaged in preliminary talks, “kicking around ideas” for a potential partnership as reported by The Information. While no concrete plans have been finalized, Peters indicated a willingness to explore all possibilities, noting Microsoft’s existing cloud streaming technology.

Peters also highlighted Sharma’s proactive approach, stating she is focused on an “invest-to-grow kind of model rather than a cut-to-make-targets model.”

Peters emphasized the importance of a mutually beneficial arrangement, stating, “You would have to do it in a way that works for the consumer and works for both companies, and frankly, I think Microsoft’s still trying to figure out how to make the Game Pass bundle perform for Microsoft.”

Lower-Priced Game Pass Tiers Also Under Consideration

Alongside the Netflix discussions, Sharma is reportedly evaluating options to make Xbox Game Pass more accessible through lower-priced tiers as reported by Dexerto. This includes exploring the possibility of ad-supported tiers, mirroring strategies employed by streaming services like Netflix. Microsoft increased the cost of Game Pass Ultimate to $30 per month in October 2025.

Current Game Pass tiers include:

  • Game Pass Premium: $15 per month
  • Game Pass Essential: $10 per month
  • PC Game Pass: $16.50 per month

What Does This Imply for Gamers?

These potential changes suggest a broader strategy to attract and retain Xbox customers. Bundling options could offer increased value, while lower-priced tiers could open up Game Pass to a wider audience. The success of these initiatives will depend on finding a balance between affordability and profitability for Microsoft.
