Star Alliance Enhances Connectivity with New Los Angeles Connection Center
Star Alliance has launched a new Star Connection Center (SCC) at Los Angeles International Airport (LAX) on March 23, 2026, bolstering its support for passengers transferring between its member airlines. This marks the alliance’s ninth such facility globally, strategically positioned at a key North American transit hub.
Addressing Transfer Challenges at LAX
LAX serves as a critical connection point for over 350,000 Star Alliance passengers annually . The new SCC is designed to minimize disruptions for passengers with tight connections, particularly those facing potential delays on inbound flights. The center proactively identifies at-risk passengers and coordinates assistance to ensure they reach their onward flights.
How the Star Connection Center Works
Dedicated staff at the SCC monitor transfer times using specialized software. When a potential missed connection is identified, the team intervenes to assist passengers, which may include meeting them at arrival gates and guiding them to their departing flights . This collaborative effort involves close coordination among the 16 Star Alliance member airlines operating at LAX.
A Global Network of Support
Star Alliance has been operating connection centers for over a decade, providing support for both passenger and baggage transfers across major hubs. In addition to Los Angeles, centers are located in Brussels, Chicago, Frankfurt, and Toronto. Separate baggage-focused facilities operate in Houston, Newark, Washington Dulles, and San Francisco .

The following Star Alliance member airlines operate at Los Angeles International Airport: Air Canada, Air China, Air New Zealand, ANA, Asiana Airlines, Austrian Airlines, Avianca, Copa Airlines, EVA Air, LOT Polish Airlines, Lufthansa, Singapore Airlines, SWISS, TAP Air Portugal, Turkish Airlines, and United Airlines . Together, they operate over 2,000 weekly flights to more than 80 destinations in over 20 countries.
