Henderson County Man Charged with Attempted Murder

HENDERSON COUNTY, N.C. — Jonathan Fenton, 44, is in custody at the Henderson County Detention Center facing multiple felony charges, including attempted first-degree murder, following an incident on March 14, 2026, in Henderson County, North Carolina.

According to the Henderson County Sheriff’s Office, deputies responded to a disturbance call on Hutch Mountain Road and found a female victim with lacerations to her head and neck. Deputies provided medical aid until Henderson County EMS arrived and transported the victim to Mission Hospital.

Authorities stated that Fenton fled the scene in a vehicle but crashed over an embankment after failing to navigate a curve. Deputies assisted in extricating Fenton from the vehicle, and he was also taken to Mission Hospital for treatment.

Charges Filed Against Jonathan Fenton

Fenton was taken into custody on March 24, 2026, and is charged with:

  • Attempted first-degree murder
  • First-degree kidnapping
  • Assault by strangulation
  • Assault with a deadly weapon
  • Misdemeanor assault with a deadly weapon

The Henderson County Sheriff’s Office confirmed Fenton remains in custody as of Wednesday, March 25, 2026.
