Changi Airport Unveils Luxe Private Terminal Deal for Mid-2027 Opening
Changi Airport Group (CAG) has commenced redevelopment of the former Commercially Important Persons (CIP) terminal site into a premium travel and lifestyle destination, with the modern private terminal set to open in mid-2027. The project, undertaken in partnership with Plaza Premium Group (PPG), will transform the southern node of Terminal 2 into an enhanced facility offering personalized services for discerning travelers.
Project Scope and Partnership Details
The redevelopment encompasses both an upgraded private terminal and an expanded amenities cluster linked to the existing Hub & Spoke area. CAG and PPG will jointly operate the new facility, combining CAG’s airport operational expertise with PPG’s global leadership in airport hospitality. PPG operates the world’s largest network of airport lounges and specializes in delivering integrated passenger service solutions.

The private terminal will replace the current CIP facility and feature a deluxe lounge, bar, private suites, and bespoke dining options. A high-end event space will also be included, designed to accommodate larger groups and private gatherings while maintaining discretion and elevated design standards.
Enhanced Passenger Experience
Travelers using the new terminal will benefit from a fully personalized journey from arrival to boarding. The facility will provide exclusive spaces for rest and relaxation before flights, with seamless transfers to departure gates and convenient access to Changi’s renowned retail offerings.
According to Ang Siew Min, CAG’s Senior Vice President for Airport Operations Development and Airport Operations Services, the project responds to evolving traveler expectations: “Some of today’s travellers seek more than just a comfortable place to spend time before their flight — they are after a personalized premium experience. CAG is meeting this demand with an upgraded private terminal that delivers an exceptional experience.”
Adjacent Lifestyle Hub Expansion
Alongside the private terminal, the adjacent Hub & Spoke area will be expanded to include additional dining outlets, wellness facilities, and pet-friendly spaces serving both travelers and visitors. Plans also incorporate a covered amphitheatre and outdoor plaza designed for small to mid-sized events, further enriching the lifestyle offerings at Terminal 2.
The development is strategically located near the upcoming Hotel Indigo, forming part of a broader initiative to introduce mixed-use facilities across the airport campus.
Timeline and Strategic Significance
Construction has already begun, with completion and opening scheduled for mid-2027. Upon launch, the new private terminal will represent a significant upgrade to Changi’s premium travel infrastructure, reinforcing its position as a global leader in aviation hospitality and innovation.
By integrating luxury hospitality, personalized service, and lifestyle amenities within a single destination, the project aims to redefine the pre-flight experience for premium travelers transiting through Singapore’s flagship airport.
