Delhi Double Murder: Father and Son Stabbed to Death in CR Park; Accused Detained
New Delhi, April 18 — A brutal double murder in South Delhi’s CR Park area claimed the lives of a father and his son on Friday night, police confirmed on Saturday. The victims, identified as 62-year-old Rakesh Sood and his 27-year-old son Karan Sood, were stabbed to death inside their home at Tara Apartments in Alaknanda. Their cousin, Rahul, sustained injuries in the attack and is currently undergoing treatment at a hospital in Saket.
According to Deputy Commissioner of Police (South) Anant Mittal, the incident came to light around 9:30 pm on April 17 when the three individuals were admitted to a private hospital in Saket by their relatives. Upon medical examination, doctors declared Rakesh Sood and Karan Sood brought dead, even as Rahul was found injured and admitted for treatment.
Police investigations revealed that the attack stemmed from a long-standing enmity arising out of previous disputes between the families. The accused, identified as Asad — a resident of the same Tara Apartments complex — allegedly attacked the victims with a sharp-edged object. He has been identified and detained by Delhi Police.
Neighbours reported hearing the disturbance and later confirmed that a father and son had been stabbed to death. One resident told ANI, “I just found out, so the police are conducting an inquiry here, and it’s been learned that a father and son have been murdered. They were killed by stabbing with a knife, and it’s their neighbour who committed the murder.”
An FIR has been registered under relevant sections of law, and police are actively analysing CCTV footage and gathering forensic evidence from the crime scene as part of their ongoing investigation. Authorities have urged anyone with information to approach forward to assist in establishing the full sequence of events.
The tragedy has deeply affected residents of Tara Apartments, who described the Sood family as long-time occupants well known to many in the complex. Police continue to probe the motive behind the attack, emphasizing that the case remains under active investigation.
