Te Hurinui ‘Apa’ Twidle: A Versatile Back

Twidle, 21, has signed a three-year deal with the Perth Bears, extending through the 2029 season. He made a striking debut for the Parramatta Eels earlier this season, scoring two tries against the Wests Tigers. Twidle’s versatility allows him to play effectively in the halves or as an outside back. He progressed through the Eels’ junior programs, including SG Ball Cup, Jersey Flegg, and NSW Cup, before making his NRL debut.

“I’m delighted to have the opportunity to continue my development under Mal and his staff at the Perth Bears,” Twidle said. He expressed excitement about the Bears’ strong roster and the opportunity to contribute both on and off the field.

Kit Laulilii: A Powerful Middle Forward

Kit Laulilii, also 21, has signed a two-year contract with the Perth Bears, covering the 2027 and 2028 seasons. He debuted for the Wests Tigers in 2023 and will join his brother, Luke Laulilii, who previously signed with the Bears. Laulilii is known for his skill and power as a middle forward.

Building the Bears’ Inaugural Squad

These signings add to the growing list of players committed to the Perth Bears for their debut in the 2027 NRL season. Luke Laulilii, who signed earlier, is a versatile outside back who debuted for the Wests Tigers in 2024, scoring four tries in nine First Grade games. Perth Bears announced Luke Laulilii’s signing.

Head coach Mal Meninga expressed his satisfaction with the recruits, noting Luke Laulilii’s talent and athleticism and his potential to provide versatility in the backline. David Sharpe, the Perth Bears’ General Manager of Football, emphasized the club’s active recruitment efforts and anticipated further announcements in the coming weeks.
