Vietnam Hosts ASEAN Forum on Energy Security and Regional Resilience
In a significant move to strengthen regional cooperation, Vietnam recently hosted an ASEAN forum focused on energy security and regional resilience. The event highlighted the growing importance of sustainable energy strategies and collaborative efforts to address shared challenges in Southeast Asia. As a key member of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN), Vietnam has positioned itself as a leader in promoting energy diversification and infrastructure development across the region.
ASEAN’s Energy Security Priorities
ASEAN’s approach to energy security emphasizes fuel diversification, regional interconnectivity, and infrastructure development. With energy demand projected to more than double by 2025, the bloc is prioritizing initiatives like the ASEAN Power Grid (APG) to ensure a reliable and sustainable energy supply. These efforts align with the ASEAN Economic Community (AEC) vision of creating a well-connected, competitive, and resilient region.
“Regional resilience and energy security are critical for ASEAN’s long-term development,” said the ASEAN Secretary-General during an interview with Voice of Vietnam. “By fostering cooperation and investing in renewable energy, we can mitigate risks and ensure sustainable growth for future generations.”
