naGRUP Breaks Ground on New Logistics Hub in Muret, France

On June 16, 2024, GSE, a construction firm, and naGRUP, a logistics company specializing in cross-border distribution, officially began construction of a new 7,188-square-meter logistics and administrative complex in Muret, France. The project, located on a 25,911-square-meter site in the Bonnets industrial zone, marks a significant expansion of naGRUP’s operations in the south-west of France and the Andorra region, according to a statement from the company.

What Are the Key Features of the New Logistics Center?

The facility, designed by Apside Architecture, includes a 6,000-square-meter warehouse capable of storing over 8,000 pallets across four levels, along with cold storage rooms for food and pharmaceutical products. It will also house 1,000 square meters of office space and technical areas. The site is expected to accommodate 40 employees and serve as a regional hub for naGRUP’s operations in the south-west of France, Andorra, and Spain, the company confirmed.

The building is designed with scalability in mind, with an additional 2,400 square meters available for future expansion. Construction is set to conclude by December 2026, according to the project’s technical specifications.

naGRUP emphasized its commitment to sustainability, stating that the facility will prioritize low-carbon construction materials for foundations, flooring, and framing. The project also includes biodiversity preservation measures, such as compensatory actions for nearby wetlands, as outlined in a report by the local environmental authority.

GSE, the construction partner, addressed technical challenges posed by the site’s geology. The company used on-site encapsulation of contaminated materials and specialized foundation techniques, including dynamic compaction and ballast columns, to stabilize the land, according to a technical review by the firm.

The Bonnets industrial zone, located 30 kilometers from Toulouse, is a growing economic hub. The site’s proximity to the route connecting Toulouse to Andorra enhances its logistical appeal, supporting naGRUP’s goal of strengthening regional supply chains, as noted in a press release from the Muretain Agglomeration.

André Mandement, mayor of Muret and president of the Muretain Agglomeration, highlighted the project’s role in boosting local employment and economic growth, citing data from the regional development agency.
