The Citybeach pop-up in Hildesheim, Germany, will conclude its seasonal operations on August 16, 2026, with organizers currently seeking a buyer for approximately 100 tons of high-quality, washed sand used at the site. According to Hildesheim Marketing GmbH, the sand must be removed by the buyer, who is also responsible for clearing the site after the season ends.
Operational Details and Seasonal Schedule
Citybeach operates as a temporary urban summer attraction in Hildesheim, transforming public space into a beach-themed recreational area. For the 2026 season, the venue is open from June 26 through August 16. The site welcomes visitors Sunday through Thursday from 12:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m., and extends hours on Friday and Saturday until 11:00 p.m.

The dismantling process is scheduled to begin on August 17, 2026. Because the facility relies on a significant volume of sand—sourced from the local company Dörentrup Quarz GmbH & Co. KG in Duingen—Hildesheim Marketing is facilitating the transfer of this material to avoid waste and support local projects.
Sand Acquisition and Logistics
The organizers are looking for a party interested in acquiring the entire stock of sand. Interested buyers must coordinate the transport logistics themselves and ensure the site is left in a clean condition. Parties may reach out to the management team via email at citymanagement@hildesheim-marketing.de to discuss the transfer.
Historically, this sand has been repurposed for various water sports facilities and landscaping projects within and around Hildesheim, providing a sustainable second life for the material once the beach season concludes.
