Ludwig Kaiser’s Battery Case Set for Second Pre-Trial Conference

Ludwig Kaiser faces a misdemeanor battery charge following an April 23 incident at his Orlando apartment complex. A pre-trial conference is scheduled for August 27 to determine the next steps in the legal proceedings.

The April 23 Incident and Legal Charges

The legal dispute stems from a confrontation between Kaiser and a neighbor, identified as Richard Reap, at their shared residential complex. According to court filings first reported by F4WOnline, the incident involved a verbal altercation. Kaiser alleged that Reap used aggressive language toward him and Bazarte, including threats to report Bazarte to Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE).

The situation escalated into a physical encounter. Following the altercation, authorities charged Kaiser with misdemeanor battery.

Defense Strategy: Florida’s "Stand Your Ground" Law

Kaiser’s legal team is pursuing a dismissal of the charges by citing Florida Statute 776.012. Known colloquially as the “Stand Your Ground” law, this statute allows individuals to use non-deadly force if they reasonably believe such force is necessary to defend themselves or another person against the imminent use of unlawful force.

The defense maintains that Kaiser’s actions during the encounter were a justified response to the threats directed at him and his girlfriend. By filing this motion, the defense is asking the court to rule that the use of force was lawful, thereby precluding the need for a trial.

Status of Court Proceedings

A preliminary pre-trial conference took place on July 16, during which Kaiser’s attorney appeared on his behalf.

The upcoming conference on August 27 serves as a procedural milestone. At this stage, the prosecution and the defense will meet to discuss the viability of the “Stand Your Ground” motion and assess whether a plea agreement can be reached.
