Turner, who played for the Indiana Fever in 2025 before joining the Las Vegas Aces, published her claims on X. Her public statements arrived in the wake of remarks made by Sophie Cunningham during an ESPN interview concerning the inclusion of transgender athletes in women’s sports. Cunningham stated an objective to protect young girls in sports from competing against biological men, according to reports.
Internal Conduct Versus League Inclusion Debated
In response to Cunningham’s remarks, Turner argued on X that internal organizational actions pose a greater threat to women’s sports than transgender inclusion. Turner stated that the Indiana Fever dismissed a male staff member following sexual harassment allegations but simultaneously told players not to discuss the matter publicly.
Contrasting the alleged staff conduct with broader league inclusion, Turner defended the participation of transgender athletes. She referenced former WNBA player Layshia Clarendon, who was born female and later identified as transgender, noting that the league’s single out transgender player caused zero problems. Turner contrasted that integration with the alleged staff misconduct, writing that sexism, misogyny, homophobia, and racism represent the true issues facing the game.

The Indiana Fever issued a formal statement responding to Turner’s public allegations. According to the organization, protecting players and employees while maintaining a respectful workplace remains the team’s top priority.
