Lithuanian weather will shift from brief periods of rain and cooler temperatures to a surge of late-July summer heat driven by alternating high-pressure ridges and low-pressure cyclones, according to forecasts released by Lithuanian meteorologist Elvyra Latvėnaitė.
The Baltic region is currently shedding the influence of a dominant cyclone that brought unstable conditions, making way for drier air masses. Saturday brings a brief touch of stability as the ridge of the Norbert anticyclone attempts to build across the country, though it remains squeezed between moisture-bearing low-pressure systems over Scandinavia and the Baltic states, as well as a retreating system moving toward the east and southeast.
Norbert Anticyclone Brings Relief and 28°C Sunday Highs
Scattered, brief showers will linger across western and eastern border areas on Saturday, though conditions are expected to remain dry during Saturday evening and Sunday night for outdoor events and celebrations, according to Latvėnaitė’s bulletin.
Daytime temperatures on Saturday will reach 21°C to 25°C inland, while western and northwestern coastal areas will experience cooler readings between 18°C and 20°C. Variable winds will blow at 3 to 7 meters per second overnight, picking up to 6 to 11 meters per second during the day with gusts reaching 12 to 13 meters per second along the coast.
Sunday brings a sharp warm-up, pushing daytime highs to between 23°C and 28°C, though western and northwestern districts will stay somewhat cooler. The relief will be short-lived as a new frontal system approaches the western coast by Sunday afternoon, spreading precipitation and potential thunderstorms into the northwestern regions late Sunday night.

Monday brings widespread rain and thunderstorms across Lithuania, with the heaviest activity concentrated in western regions. Cooler air arriving from the north will drop daytime temperatures in the west and northwest to between 18°C and 21°C, while eastern areas reach 22°C to 26°C. Variable winds will shift from southerly to westerly and northwesterly, generating gusts up to 15 to 17 meters per second during thunderstorms.
Tuesday Grayness Precedes Southern High-Pressure Build
Tuesday presents the coolest and grayest conditions of the period. Persistent intermittent rain, brisk westerly and northwesterly winds gusting to 15 to 17 meters per second, and daytime temperatures capped between 18°C and 23°C will mark the passage of the system.
Atmospheric pressure will begin to build from the south by Wednesday, clearing out lingering morning showers and calming winds as high-pressure dominance takes hold.

By Thursday and Friday, dry and calm conditions return across the country. South-to-southerly winds will pump warm air back into the region, driving daytime temperatures up significantly.
Forecasters project Friday, July 31, to feature clear skies and maximum temperatures ranging from 26°C to 29°C inland, and 21°C to 25°C along the coast, setting up a warm start to the following weekend.
