The second edition of the Premios Chaleco Agricultor has officially opened its nomination window in Ávila, seeking to honor professionals driving the modernization of Spain’s agricultural sector. According to Expo AgriTech 2026 and ASAJA, the initiative spotlights farmers who implement new practices, technological solutions, and sustainable production models directly from their own operations.
Nomination Guidelines and Categories
The call is open to farmers across Spain regardless of farm size or location. In Ávila, interested producers can submit applications until October 15. The awards are split into three distinct categories designed to evaluate specific areas of agricultural advancement, according to Expo AgriTech and ASAJA.
The innovation category focuses on crops and inputs, rewarding the adoption of new varieties, climate-adapted crops, and novel products that boost productivity and open new markets. A second category targets sustainability, measuring efforts to cut environmental footprints through resource efficiency, lower emissions, improved soil health, reduced pesticide residues, and circular economy practices. A third category centers on technology, recognizing the integration of advanced tools such as drones, robotics, sensors, Internet of Things (IoT) systems, and artificial intelligence.
Evaluation Process and Gala Timeline
A technical committee composed of specialists in agriculture, innovation, and sustainability evaluates all submissions based on the challenge addressed, the practical impact on the farm, the novelty of the proposal, the project team, and future development potential. Three finalists per province—one for each category—will advance to the Gran Gala Nacional de los Premios Chaleco Agricultor 2026.
The national awards ceremony is scheduled for November 5 in Málaga, coinciding with Expo AgriTech 2026. Finalists will receive a commemorative vest at the event, while the three national winners will take home the 3 Estrellas Agrícolas, representing the highest distinction of the competition.
