Virtual singer SUOU and music creator Midori Aoi released the official music video for the original song “Tsukihana Chou” on YouTube, marking the project’s public debut following a brief delay due to post-earthquake evaluations in Japan.
Themes of Loss and Generative Imagery
The 4-minute and 20-second music video centers on the themes of loss and remembrance, according to Aoi’s public statements. The song’s narrative uses the imagery of pupae and butterflies to represent a departed loved one.
In the video’s visual sequence—built by Aoi using generative AI tools—SUOU sings against backdrops of moonlit flower fields, lily of the valley, and cradles situated under cherry blossoms, depicting a figure praying to the sky after a loss.
Multi-Step AI Production Workflow
“Tsukihana Chou” was produced using a multi-step AI workflow combined with manual editing. Aoi utilized ChatGPT to generate initial concepts and scene layouts, including SUOU’s poses and specific background elements such as rainbow-colored flower paths and empty pupa shells. Those prompts were then processed through Google Flow to generate approximately 10-second video segments.
Curating and Editing the Final Cut
Because automated video generators cannot produce a cohesive 4-minute continuous take, Aoi curated the usable clips, discarding failed generations and mismatched movements.
The compiled visual elements were subsequently imported into the mobile editing app VLLO. Within VLLO, Aoi adjusted clip lengths, inserted custom scenes, synchronized the visual timing with the music track, and added lyric subtitles.
Credits and Creative Roles
The production credits list SUOU as the virtual singer, with Aoi handling lyrics, musical composition, and visual supervision. The core musical track was produced using Suno AI, with ChatGPT and Google Flow supporting image and video generation, and VLLO utilized for final subtitling and editing.
