A fatal residential fire at Block 309, Clementi Avenue 4 left one person dead and two Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF) firefighters injured after the building’s dry rising main failed to deliver water during operations. According to the SCDF, emergency services received alerts regarding the blaze at approximately 11:10 p.m. on July 31, 2026, finding the living room of an eighth-floor unit engulfed in flames upon arrival.

SCDF personnel forced entry into the burning eighth-floor flat to combat the fire and conduct searches. According to AsiaOne and The Independent Singapore News, one resident was successfully rescued from the unit’s kitchen during the operation.
Tragically, one person died as a result of the incident. Additionally, two SCDF firefighters sustained injuries during the operation and were transported to a hospital for medical treatment. Authorities have not yet released the identity of the deceased resident or specific details regarding the nature of the firefighters’ injuries.

The cause of the fire and the specific mechanical failure of the dry rising main remain under active investigation by the SCDF and relevant building authorities.
