Four Ugandan boxers who competed at the Commonwealth Games have vanished in Glasgow, skipping their scheduled return flight home alongside the rest of the national delegation on Tuesday.

The athletes—identified as Angel Katushabe, Nuhu Batte, Ibrahim Khemis, and Emily Nakalema—are missing following the conclusion of the international multi-sport event. Uganda initially sent a six-person boxing team to the quadrennial competition.
When the four team members failed to check in for departure, local authorities and team officials immediately launched inquiries into their whereabouts. Representatives for the Ugandan team confirmed that the Ministry of Education and Sport intends to release an official statement addressing the incident.
Unverified Reports Point to Asylum Intentions and Career Pursuits
An unnamed source claiming to be part of the missing group told The Weekly Observer that the athletes intend to apply for asylum and continue their boxing careers outside Uganda. The source cited limited training conditions and restricted sports prospects at home as primary motivations for leaving the delegation. However, these claims remain unverified by official immigration or sports authorities.
