Celebrity blogger Perez Hilton is currently receiving medical care following a self-harm incident broadcast on a TikTok livestream, according to statements released by his family and local law enforcement. The Miami-Dade Sheriff’s Office reported that deputies responded to multiple emergency calls on the evening of August 4 regarding a social media broadcast, subsequently locating Hilton safe in his apartment and transferring him to a local hospital.
“We can confirm that Perez is receiving medical attention, and the family’s focus right now is on his well-being,” a statement posted to the official Perez-Hilton website reads. The family requested privacy as they navigate the situation, adding that updates will be shared publicly if and when they become available.
TikTok Livestream Triggers Emergency Response
According to a TikTok spokesperson, platform moderators identified the livestream shortly after it began and immediately alerted local authorities. While the exact duration of the broadcast remains unconfirmed, representatives indicated the stream lasted less than 15 minutes before platform staff terminated it.
Following the cutoff, TikTok permanently banned Hilton’s account for violating community guidelines prohibiting shock value, gore, and explicit self-harm content. “We do not allow anything extremely bloody, disturbing, or violent, especially when it could cause psychological harm,” the platform’s policy states.
Career Background and Recent Media Work
Born Mario Lavandeira, Hilton rose to digital prominence in the early 2000s by launching a celebrity gossip website defined by aggressive commentary and unsparing critiques of public figures. Over the years, his sharp coverage alienated several high-profile stars and their public relations teams, including Khloé Kardashian, Miley Cyrus, and Lady Gaga.
As internet culture evolved over the past decade, Hilton shifted his public persona, emphasizing fatherhood and pivoting toward family-friendly content on his main site. Since 2015, he has co-hosted a weekly program alongside radio personality Chris Booker. According to production reports, Hilton recorded the final episode for The Perez Hilton Podcast with Chris Booker on the Monday prior to the incident.
