Opening Night Selection and New International Competition
The feature explores a young boy’s journey through war and migration while seeking identity amid internal conflict. In a structural shift for the event’s 22nd year, organizers introduced an international competition category designed to broaden the scope beyond pure music documentaries and concert films. Across the entire program, the festival will screen 189 works, representing the largest slate in the event’s history.
High-Profile Guest Lineup and Trailer Release
Festival Executive Chairman Jang Hang-jun leveraged his industry connections to secure a high-profile roster of guest artists and creators for the upcoming events, as reported by festival officials. Acclaimed directors Bong Joon-ho and Park Chan-wook are slated to attend the opening ceremony. Meanwhile, auxiliary programs will feature appearances by writer Kim Eun-hee, actor Jeon Mi-do, and news anchor Son Seok-hee. To promote the event, the festival released an official trailer directed by Kim Cho-hee, which uses the metaphor of cave paintings and creative struggle to highlight the relationship between filmmakers and cinema events.
Venue Expansions and Urban Integration
Organizers expanded the newly remodeled Jecheon Culture Center from four screening rooms to seven to accommodate the record number of films. Key events, including the opening ceremony and the signature “One Summer Night” music performances, will take place at the outdoor plaza situated in front of the Jecheon Arts Center. Festival leadership stated that consolidating screenings, live music acts, outdoor events, and creator talks directly into the downtown core is intended to transform the entire city into an active festival zone.
