According to DRK blood donation data, donated blood is separated into its individual components to treat diverse patient groups. Statistical breakdowns indicate that the largest share of donated blood is utilized for cancer therapies, followed by treatments for heart diseases, gastrointestinal disorders, and the care of accident victims.

Healthy individuals aged 18 and older who weigh more than 50 kilograms are generally eligible to donate blood. While the physical blood collection process takes only 10 to 15 minutes, the entire appointment lasts approximately one hour.
