According to South Australia Police (SAPOL), authorities received a call to the location on Harrison Road in Charleston, about 40 kilometres from Adelaide, just after 6:15 a.m.
The 26-year-old man, a resident of Adelaide’s southern suburbs, was found dead at the scene, according to statements from SAPOL. Emergency services, including the South Australian Country Fire Service (CFS) and SafeWork SA, responded to the incident.
SafeWork SA and Police Investigation Underway
Investigators and inspectors from SafeWork SA attended the worksite on Wednesday morning to examine the area under standard investigative protocols. According to a SafeWork SA spokesperson cited by 7NEWS.com.au, officials are making further inquiries and assessing the circumstances surrounding the incident.
SAPOL confirmed that officers are preparing a formal report for the Coroner regarding the workplace fatality. The property where the incident occurred is a council-owned worksite situated in the Charleston and Lobethal area.
Adelaide Hills Council Response
In an official statement released by the Adelaide Hills Council, local officials acknowledged the fatality and confirmed they are cooperating fully with emergency services. According to the council, staff are providing necessary information and support to investigators.
“Our thoughts are with the family, first responders and staff impacted,” an Adelaide Hills Council spokesperson stated in reports published by ABC News.
