Traffic Stop Triggers Foot Chase in San Bruno

The vehicle came to a sudden stop at the intersection of Memory Lane and Poplar Avenue, located in a residential neighborhood west of El Camino Real. Immediately after the car stopped, a passenger emerged holding a handgun and fled on foot. The pursuing officer chased the armed suspect down Memory Lane, across El Camino Real, and into an adjacent neighborhood.

Suspect Apprehended on Kensington Avenue

Additional patrol units responded to the area to establish a perimeter and assist in locating the fleeing suspect. Police dogs and searching officers eventually found the man attempting to hide in the driveway of a home on Kensington Avenue. According to police dashboard camera footage released by the agency, officers took the suspect into custody at the Kensington Avenue location without further incident. Investigators determined that during the pursuit, the suspect discarded a firearm in the backyard of a nearby residence. Responding officers recovered the loaded handgun from the yard and subsequently confirmed through law enforcement databases that the man was on parole, making it illegal for him to possess firearms or ammunition.

Charges and Facility Booking Details

Following his capture on Kensington Avenue, the 23-year-old suspect was transported and booked into the San Mateo County Maguire Correctional Facility. Jail and police records show he was booked on suspicion of violating the terms of his parole alongside multiple new weapons-related offenses.
