Liverpool midfielder Dominik Szoboszlai and defender Milos Kerkez recently faced club legend Steven Gerrard on a tennis court, according to an interview published by Liverpool’s official media channels. The casual match came to light after Szoboszlai shared a photograph of the outing on social media, sparking interest among supporters regarding the players’ off-pitch activities.

Kerkez admitted in his interview with Liverpool official channels that he and Szoboszlai lost the match. The defender explained that he does not play tennis frequently and noted that Gerrard and his doubles partner played well enough to earn the victory. According to Kerkez, the outing served as a relaxed day away from regular club training schedules.

“We and a friend talked about it and made a date with Steven to play together one day,” Kerkez told Liverpool’s official media. “I wanted to come, so obviously I needed a teammate. I called Dom, and Dom came with me. I don’t frequently play, so we lost the match because Steven played really well. It was very interesting.”

Future Rematch Planned on the Tennis Court

Despite the initial defeat, Kerkez expects a rematch against the former Liverpool captain in the near future. The Hungarian defender stated that he intends to practice his tennis skills before stepping back onto the court with Gerrard for a more competitive encounter.

“Yes, quite soon,” Kerkez said regarding a potential second match. “I texted Steven and told him that I will improve in a month or two, and then we will also play a serious match to see who can win. But before that, I need to practice.”

The lighthearted challenge highlights the camaraderie within the Liverpool squad and among former club figures. Gerrard, who made 710 appearances for Liverpool during his illustrious playing career, maintains close ties to the Merseyside club where he currently holds legendary status among the fanbase.
