South Korean actress Park Kyung-hye addressed her meticulous eating habits—including cutting hamburgers and steaks into tiny pieces—in a video shared on her personal YouTube channel, shedding light on a severe historical battle with malocclusion that once threatened her dental health, according to a report by Animal Planet.
Dental History and the Risk of Dentures
Park explained that she previously suffered from severe malocclusion and poor dental alignment. When one side of her teeth required treatment, she was forced to chew exclusively on the opposite side. This repetitive strain formed a lifelong habit of cutting her food into small pieces. Although dental treatments and orthodontic work significantly improved her bite, the long-standing habit remains embedded in her daily routine.
According to Animal Planet, a medical professional warned Park that leaving her small teeth and severe bite misalignment untreated could result in her needing dentures by the time she reached her thirties. Faced with that prognosis, Park chose to undergo orthognathic surgery—commonly known as double jaw surgery—to correct her bite function.
The Reality of Double Jaw Surgery
Double jaw surgery repositions both the upper and lower jaws to establish a normal bite, restoring proper function for eating and speaking. Park spent approximately 30 million KRW on the procedure. Crucially, she pursued the operation entirely for health and functional restoration rather than cosmetic enhancement.
During her appearance on the MBC variety show Radio Star, Park recounted that right before receiving general anesthesia, her surgeon asked if she wanted to shave down her jawbones for a slimmer face shape. Park refused the cosmetic alteration because she was afraid of losing her natural facial identity.

The surgical results proved remarkably subtle. Park recalled that the outcome was so natural that past directors and acquaintances failed to notice she had undergone the operation, leaving her feeling a mix of relief and mild dismay.
