Christopher Nolan’s The Odyssey Sets November Digital and Physical Release Dates
Christopher Nolan’s blockbuster epic The Odyssey is heading to digital platforms and physical media on November 17, according to listings on Blu-ray.com and reporting by Variety. The fantasy adaptation, which opened in theaters on July 17, will arrive on home video exactly four months after its theatrical debut, matching the release pattern of Nolan’s previous film, Oppenheimer.
Box Office Milestones and Theatrical Run
The home media announcement follows a historic theatrical run for the film. According to ScreenRant, The Odyssey recently surpassed Deadpool & Wolverine‘s $1.338 billion gross to become the highest-grossing rated R film of all time, pushing its cumulative box office earnings to $1.35 billion globally. CBR notes that the feature stands as the second highest-grossing film of 2026, trailing only behind Spider-Man: Brand New Day. Despite its longevity in theaters, Universal Pictures has not yet officially confirmed the home video details, mirroring the studio’s strategy with Oppenheimer, which did not receive a formal home release announcement until roughly a month before its launch.
Physical Media Formats and Special Features
Blu-ray.com lists The Odyssey for release as a standard two-disc Blu-ray set alongside a three-disc 4K Ultra HD edition. Specific details regarding bonus content, director commentaries, and behind-the-scenes featurettes have not yet been disclosed by Universal Pictures.

Production Scale and Critical Reception
Filmed entirely with IMAX cameras on a $250 million budget, the picture adapts Homer’s ancient Greek epic poem. Matt Damon stars as Odysseus, leading an ensemble cast that includes Anne Hathaway as Penelope, alongside Tom Holland, Lupita Nyong’o, Robert Pattinson, Zendaya, Elliot Page, John Leguizamo, Charlize Theron, Jon Bernthal, Samantha Morton, and Himesh Patel. Produced by Nolan and his wife, Emma Thomas, the film achieved widespread critical acclaim, securing a 94% approval rating on Rotten Tomatoes and a 97% audience score.
