First-Half Dominance Propels Whitecaps
The Whitecaps established control early in front of an announced crowd of 25,398. Emmanuel Sabbi opened the scoring in the 11th minute off a corner kick from Ryan Gauld, sending a rolling shot past FC Dallas goalkeeper Jonathan Sirois. In the 23rd minute, Tristan Blackmon sent a long ball to Edier Ocampo, who chested it down and chipped a pass across the six-yard box for White to tap in. White struck again in the 37th minute following another Gauld corner, capitalizing on a loose ball in the box to net his 13th goal across all competitions this season. Ocampo capped the first half by heading a bouncing ball over Sirois in stoppage time, giving Vancouver a 4-0 lead.
Standings and Roster Impact
According to the Canadian Press, the victory returned the Whitecaps (12-4-4) to first place in the MLS Western Conference standings with 40 points, leapfrogging the Houston Dynamo. Bruno Caicedo added the team’s fifth goal in the 68th minute, while goalkeeper Yohei Takaoka made one save to secure his eighth clean sheet of the MLS season. FC Dallas dropped to 9-6-6 with 33 points following the loss.
