A 72-year-old man from Central Huron and his dog died Friday night after being struck by the driver of a pickup truck in Bluewater, Ont., according to provincial police. The Ontario Provincial Police reported that emergency crews responded to the collision shortly after 9 p.m. near London Road and Vanastra Road, a municipality located approximately 85 kilometres west of Kitchener.
Investigation Into the Bluewater Collision
First responders arrived at the scene to find both the pedestrian and his pet injured from the impact. According to the Ontario Provincial Police, the 72-year-old man was pronounced dead at the scene. His dog sustained severe injuries during the crash and had to be euthanized.

The driver of the pickup truck remained at the scene following the incident and sustained no injuries, according to police statements.
Road Closures and Traffic Impact
The crash prompted temporary traffic restrictions along a stretch of Highway 4.
Police confirmed that the affected road closures have since fully reopened to motorists.
