According to Carlsen Verlag, prompting ChatGPT yields full stories incorporating protected characters alongside illustrations heavily resembling Astrid Henn’s original artwork. The publisher states that the chatbot generates complete publishing layouts, including cover designs, publishing notices, fabricated International Standard Book Numbers (ISBNs), and publisher logos. This enforcement action follows a previous dispute a year prior concerning AI-generated memes based on the publisher’s “Conni” book series, according to company statements.
Security Vulnerabilities Discovered in Microsoft Copilot
In a separate security development, researchers at data security firm Varonis uncovered a critical vulnerability in Microsoft’s Copilot AI assistant. By querying the AI directly about its protective mechanisms, researchers elicited technical architecture details that allowed them to bypass safeguards. Varonis reported that attackers could extract data from connected services such as email accounts by utilizing manipulated links. Furthermore, hidden instructions embedded within web pages permanently altered the AI’s memory, persisting even after password changes and device logouts. Microsoft has since deployed a patch to resolve the vulnerability.
Junior Employment Declines Amid AI Adoption
Generative artificial intelligence tools are reshaping entry-level job markets, according to a study published by the Stanford Digital Economy Lab utilizing payroll data from a major United States personnel service provider covering millions of workers over five years. While overall employment increased, entry-level employment in occupations heavily affected by AI dropped by approximately 11 percent following the public release of ChatGPT. Conversely, employment for younger workers in less-affected occupations grew by about 10 percent. Rather than executing mass layoffs, firms are simply leaving junior positions unfilled while experienced staff leverage AI tools, according to the data.
