The manga series Maria Holic by Minari Endo is returning with a brand-new sequel titled Maria Holic Sono go no 12-Kagetsu no Ohanashi, according to an announcement in the October issue of Media Factory’s Monthly Comic Alive magazine. The upcoming manga debuts in Japan on August 27, 2026, and picks up the story exactly one year after the conclusion of the original series run.

The sequel narrative is set 12 months after the events of the original Maria Holic manga, which concluded its serialization in 2014. Creator Minari Endo released a fresh promotional illustration featuring the cross-dressing protagonist Mariya Shidou and his devoted maid Matsurika, rendered in Endo’s current art style alongside a chibi version of Kanako Miyamae. According to plot details from the original series, Kanako transfers to an all-girls mission school in search of an ideal romance partner, only to discover that her crush, Mariya, is actually a sadistic cross-dressing boy, forcing her to protect his secret while dealing with unwanted attention from peers.
Publication History and Anime Adaptation Precedent
The original Maria Holic manga ran from June 2006 through November 2014 in Media Factory’s Monthly Comic Alive, spanning a total of 14 compiled tankōbon volumes. The property achieved wider international recognition through its television anime adaptations produced by studio Shaft. Directed by Akiyuki Shinbo with chief direction by Yukihiro Miyamoto, scripts by Masahiro Yokotani, and music composed by Tatsuya Nishikawa, the anime adaptation aired across two distinct seasons between January 2009 and June 2011.
