Cast Reunions and New Additions in London
Sandra Bullock and Nicole Kidman reunited on the red carpet at Claridge’s hotel in London, appearing in plunging black ensembles. The actors are executive producing the project.
Original cast members Stockard Channing and Dianne Wiest also return for the sequel, reprising their roles as the eccentric aunts Frances and Bridget Owens who raised Sally and Gillian. Meanwhile, the roles of the next generation of Owens women have been recast. Joey King stars as Kylie, and Maisie Williams joins the cast as a fellow younger lead. Speaking to People, Joey King shared her experience working with the veteran co-stars, noting that Bullock and Kidman take the younger actors under their wing.
Plot and Production Details
The storyline picks up 25 years after the original film’s events. The Owens women travel from Massachusetts to the United Kingdom to confront the source of their magic.
Kidman shared behind-the-scenes glimpses from production on social media, posting a 20-photo slideshow featuring the cast atop the Owens family’s Victorian-style Massachusetts house and shooting a midnight margarita sequence with Bullock, Wiest, and Channing. Warner Bros. Pictures has slated the film’s theatrical release for September.
