Pakistan and UK Agree to Deepen Counter-Terrorism and Security Cooperation

Interior Ministry Meetings and Security Commitments

Federal Minister for Interior Mohsin Naqvi and Graeme Biggar, Director General of the United Kingdom’s National Crime Agency (NCA), met in Islamabad to outline the expanded security framework. According to the Ministry of the Interior, the two sides discussed forensic sciences and joint training initiatives targeted at officers within Pakistan’s anti-narcotics and law enforcement agencies. During the discussions, the participants established a joint commitment to improve coordination efforts aimed at combating online child exploitation.

Director General Biggar formally condemned a recent suicide attack in Islamabad and expressed condolences for the lives lost during the incident. Interior Minister Naqvi stated during the meeting that the roots of regional terrorism are linked to a neighboring country, while reaffirming Pakistan’s commitment to eradicating militant networks. “The world cannot ignore Pakistan’s resilience and determination in this fight,” Naqvi said, according to official statements. He also noted that modern forensic support and advanced training will upgrade the operational capabilities of local law enforcement.

Extradition Frameworks and Border Control

The talks yielded a plan to finalize five Memorandums of Understanding covering extradition and other areas of mutual interest between Pakistan and the United Kingdom in the near future. Interior Minister Naqvi reported that effective measures to curb illegal immigration are already underway through collaborative channels with the British government. British High Commissioner Jane Marriott and other senior Pakistani officials attended the sessions.

Director General Biggar commended Pakistan’s ongoing operations against narcotics trafficking and reaffirmed the NCA’s dedication to maintaining close operational ties with Islamabad across multiple security sectors.
