The community event featured an evidence-based presentation on nutrition, detailing how food choices support both physical and mental wellbeing, as reported by WLRFM. Following the talk, attendees participated in a belly dancing class led by Layla. Cllr Donnchadh Mulcahy, chairperson of West Waterford Mental Health Awareness, told WLRFM that the afternoon successfully brought people together to chat, learn, and promote positive mental health. Cllr Mulcahy also thanked committee members Lisa, Liz, Monica, John, Kieran, Eoin, and Paul for their behind-the-scenes work, alongside Ballysaggart GAA Club for hosting the gathering.

Cllr Mulcahy noted that such items help ensure people have immediate access to help when needed, emphasizing that individuals do not need to be in suicidal crisis to contact the service. Samaritans are available 24 hours a day, 365 days a year, at the free telephone number 116 123. Building on these outreach efforts, West Waterford Mental Health Awareness announced that its next community wellbeing event will take place in Ballyduff on Saturday, September 19, with further details expected soon.
