All KBO League Games on August 28 Canceled Due to Rain

According to the Korea Baseball Organization (KBO), heavy downpours and poor field conditions forced the cancellation of all five 2026 KBO League regular-season games scheduled across South Korea on September 28. Persistent rain in the southern regions and saturated grounds in Seoul and Daegu disrupted the entire daily slate, leading officials to scrub fixtures in Busan, Daejeon, Gwangju, Daegu, and Seoul.

Stadiums Hit by the Washout Across South Korea

The weather disruption affected five major venues nationwide, with cancellations announced sequentially as conditions failed to improve. According to the KBO, the first fixture called off was the matchup between the Lotte Giants and the LG Twins at Busan Sajik Baseball Park, with officials making the decision at 4:19 p.m. local time as heavy rain battered the southern region. Shortly after, at 4:47 p.m., ongoing downpours forced the cancellation of the game between the Hanwha Eagles and the NC Dinos at Daejeon Hanwha Life Ballpark, alongside the contest between the KIA Tigers and the SSG Landers at Gwangju-KIA Champions Field.

Unplayable field conditions subsequently halted games further north. At 5:03 p.m., officials cancelled the meeting between the Samsung Lions and the KT Wiz at Daegu Samsung Lions Park. Finally, the match between the Doosan Bears and the Kiwoom Heroes at Seoul’s Jamsil Baseball Park was called off at 5:40 p.m. due to saturated ground conditions, according to MK Sports reporter Lee Han-ju.

Rescheduling Plans and Reserve Dates

The league office has already outlined makeup dates for some of the postponed fixtures, while others require further scheduling. According to MK Sports, the SSG Landers and the KIA Tigers will make up their rained-out game on a designated reserve date set for October 11. Meanwhile, the Doosan Bears and the Kiwoom Heroes rescheduled their Jamsil fixture for September 10.

Other matchups face a longer wait for open calendar slots. MK Sports reported that fixtures between the NC Dinos and the Hanwha Eagles, the LG Twins and the Lotte Giants, and the Samsung Lions and the KT Wiz lack pre-arranged reserve dates and will be rescheduled by the KBO at a later time.

Revised schedules for Sydney and District Little League released due to rainout today, August 18th.
