The New England Revolution are finalizing a deal to sign Hungarian international attacker Dániel Gazdag following his departure from the Columbus Crew, according to reports confirmed on Friday. The 30-year-old midfielder joins the Revolution as a free agent after the Columbus Crew exercised a contract buyout on his remaining deal, which ran through the 2027 season with a club option for 2028.

The club’s decision to buy out his contract ends his tenure in Ohio less than a year and a half after he arrived from the Philadelphia Union in April 2025 for a fee reported up to $4,500,000.

Born in Nyíregyháza, Hungary, Gazdag began his professional career with Budapest Honvéd FC in 2013 after rising through the club’s youth system alongside Nyíregyháza Spartacus FC. He made 428 total club appearances, recording 112 goals and 61 assists across all competitions.
In 2021, Gazdag moved to Major League Soccer to join the Philadelphia Union. Over five seasons in Philadelphia, he scored 72 goals and added 24 assists in 161 outings. After his transfer to Columbus in April 2025, he contributed nine goals and five assists across 55 appearances in all competitions.
Internationally, Gazdag has earned 32 senior caps and scored four goals for the Hungary national team since his debut in 2019. He represented his country at both UEFA Euro 2020 and Euro 2024.
