A pedestrian died late Monday night after being struck by a vehicle in South San Jose, according to the San Jose Police Department. The fatal collision occurred shortly after 8 p.m.

Officers responded to the scene following reports of a crash involving a motor vehicle and a pedestrian. Investigators confirmed that the victim sustained fatal injuries from the impact. The identity of the deceased individual has not yet been released, pending notification of next of kin by the Santa Clara County Medical Examiner-Coroner’s Office.

The driver involved in the incident remained at the scene and cooperated with responding officers, police stated. Investigators have not yet determined whether speed, impairment, or weather conditions played a factor in the crash.

Traffic Disruptions and Police Investigation

The collision prompted temporary road closures in the surrounding area as the department’s Traffic Enforcement Unit processed the scene and gathered evidence. Normal traffic flow resumed later Monday night after investigators cleared the roadway.
