The New England Revolution have signed veteran MLS midfielder Dániel Gazdag as a free agent through December 2027, with additional club options through the 2028-29 MLS season, according to a September 1, 2026 club announcement. Gazdag arrives in Foxborough after mutually agreeing to terminate his contract with the Columbus Crew, where he spent time following a tenure with the Philadelphia Union.
Contract Terms and Roster Status in New England
According to the New England Revolution, Gazdag’s new deal runs through December 2027 and includes additional club options for the 2028-29 MLS season. Because the 30-year-old Hungarian international holds a U.S. Green Card, he will not occupy an international roster slot for the club. Revolution General Manager and Chief Soccer Officer Chris Tierney stated that the team values the player’s experience and versatility in the attack.

“We are excited to add a player with the caliber and experience of Dániel Gazdag to New England,” Tierney said, according to the club’s official announcement. “Dániel has proven over several years that he is one of our league’s premier goal-scoring midfielders, and his versatility and quality on the ball will add another critical piece to our attack.”
MLS Career Statistics and Scoring Records
Gazdag brings an extensive scoring record to New England, having recorded 70 goals and 37 assists across 180 appearances during six seasons in Major League Soccer, according to the sources. His MLS career began in 2021 with the Philadelphia Union, where he became the club’s all-time leading goalscorer with 59 regular-season goals and 72 tallies across all competitions.

During his time in Philadelphia, Gazdag established several personal benchmarks, including a career-high 22 goals and 10 assists during the 2022 season to help the team win the Eastern Conference championship. He followed that with 14 goals and a career-best 12 assists in 2023, and another 17-goal campaign in 2024. He also ranks tied for third in MLS history with 27 successful penalty kicks. After moving to Columbus in April 2025, Gazdag scored nine goals and five assists in all competitions over two seasons with the Crew.
Integration Into the Revolution Squad
Under first-year head coach Marko Mitrović, the Revolution sit fourth in the Eastern Conference with 37 points, remaining on pace for a return to the Audi MLS Cup Playoffs. In the New England lineup, Gazdag joins an attacking group that features Designated Players Carles Gil and Jack Harrison, alongside homegrown player Peyton Miller.
