Wrestler Kendal Grey is sidelined for the foreseeable future due to a vestibular system injury sustained during her NXT Women’s Championship match at NXT Heatwave, according to an announcement made on WWE NXT on September 1, 2026. Vic Joseph confirmed on the broadcast that Grey’s injury impacts her balance and spatial awareness following repeated contact during the August 30 title bout against Kelani Jordan.
Injury Details and Medical Diagnosis
During the September 1 broadcast of WWE NXT, Vic Joseph provided details regarding Kendal Grey’s medical status following her championship match at Heatwave on August 30, 2026. According to Joseph, WWE medical staff evaluated Grey and ruled out a concussion. However, doctors diagnosed a disruption to Grey’s vestibular system, which is responsible for controlling balance and spatial awareness.
“Kendal Grey suffered a case of vertigo,” Joseph stated on the broadcast, as reported by Ringside News. “Our medical staff has ruled out any form of concussion, which is good news. But due to the repeated contact to that area—and I want to make sure I have this right—according to our medical team, there was a disruption of Kendal Grey’s vestibular system, which controls her balance and awareness.”
Joseph subsequently confirmed that Grey will not be cleared to compete anytime soon. WWE has not released a specific timetable for her return to the ring.
Match Context at NXT Heatwave
The injury occurred during Grey’s challenge against Kelani Jordan for the NXT Women’s Championship at the Heatwave event on August 30, 2026. The decisive sequence of the match unfolded when Grey struck an exposed turnbuckle.

While avoiding a concussion prevented a more severe head injury diagnosis, the vestibular disruption and subsequent vertigo symptoms are significant enough to keep Grey out of action indefinitely until medical personnel grant clearance.
