Joint Research on Clinical Application of Mesenchymal Stem Cells in Vietnam

Expanding Regenerative Medicine in Vietnam Through Strategic Partnerships

The collaboration aims to integrate advanced stem cell therapies into everyday clinical care, following national technology development directives outlined under Decision No. 1131/QD-TTg.

Speaking at the official signing ceremony, Quang noted that umbilical cord-derived mesenchymal stem cells are allogeneic rather than autologous, making rigorous quality control and product testing mandatory prior to human application.

“The manufacturing company bears heavy responsibility in this area,” Quang stated, emphasizing that regulatory agencies will provide professional management support and help establish standardized research procedures to ensure safety, quality, and clinical efficacy.

Targeting Musculoskeletal Disorders in an Aging Population

The initiative focuses primarily on degenerative disorders associated with an aging population, such as musculoskeletal conditions.

"Therefore, the goal of geriatric care is not only to extend lifespan but to improve quality of life. This technology opens opportunities for chronic disease patients to access alternative treatment options domestically, reducing drug dependency and foreign treatment costs."

Messells MSC committed to providing high-level technical resources, adherence to safety and transparency standards, and compliance with legal frameworks to protect patient interests. Nguyen Thi Thu Hien stated that the partnership allows patients to receive advanced medical services within Vietnam.

Six Pillars of the Clinical Technology Agreement

The formal collaboration centers on six primary objectives designed to bridge laboratory research and patient treatment under Ministry of Health oversight:

  • Developing and executing joint scientific research programs and innovative medical solutions.
  • Advancing research in regenerative medicine, cellular products, biomaterials, and biomedical solutions in compliance with legal regulations.
  • Organizing professional training programs, conferences, seminars, and scientific exchanges for researchers and clinicians.
  • Researching, evaluating, and transferring new technical processes and clinical care models into practice.
  • Collaborating on scientific publications, intellectual property registration, and the transfer of research outcomes.
  • Expanding international and domestic cooperation with universities, research institutes, and scientific organizations under regulatory supervision.
