“We really wanted to say that every day to the guys. ‘Hey, we still believe that a lot of you guys can be better and we’re just going to sell our entire roster. We’re going to continue to compete.’ I think that saying that every single day was important,” Schneider said.
Schneider also pointed to tangible improvements in team execution as the schedule winds down. The manager noted that the team’s at-bats have grown more consistent alongside better defensive play and timely hitting throughout August.

The victory came at a cost to Toronto’s pitching depth. Starting pitcher Jameson Taillon exited Friday’s game after the second inning due to right elbow discomfort, forcing the bullpen to cover the remaining seven frames. With another bullpen-heavy day structured around bulk pitcher Spencer Arrighetti on Sunday, the relief corps faces a heavy workload.
