His partner, television host Paola Velasco, shared footage of the moment on Instagram. She described the 35-day medical process as a period of intense resilience and family support that ultimately concluded successfully following early detection of the disease.

News of the successful treatment triggered an immediate wave of public well-wishes.
Numerous figures from Mexican football, television, and entertainment posted congratulations online. Former players and colleagues including Matías Vuoso, Carlos Guerrero, Jair Pereira, Luis Hernández, and Mauricio Barcelata extended messages of support across social media platforms to acknowledge Romano’s recovery.
Advocating for Liga MX Men’s Health Campaigns
In October 2025, Liga MX introduced a men’s health awareness campaign titled “Hazte el check, sigue el juego,” led by commissioner Mikel Arriola. Implemented primarily throughout November, the initiative was designed to promote preventative medical check-ups and early screening among male populations.
Romano stepped up as a primary spokesperson for the campaign, leveraging his status as a survivor to encourage routine medical evaluations.
Races, Outreach, and the Message of Early Detection
Organizers rolled out a series of public events to drive the message home. These included a run at Parque Metropolitano in Guadalajara on November 21, featuring 3K and 5K race distances alongside a family walk.
Proceeds from the event were allocated toward educational outreach and institutions supporting men’s health services. Beyond the league’s campaign, Romano was also associated with La Liga Azul, an independent movement focused on prostate cancer prevention under the slogan “La carrera por tu salud no se detiene.”
Following his recovery, Romano released a public statement emphasizing the necessity of proactive medical screening. According to the strategist, early detection remains the primary defense against prostate cancer, which he characterized as a treatable condition when identified in its early stages.
