Chemnitz will host its sixth edition of SPORTS UNITED festival on September 5, 2026, bringing thousands of participants to the eins-Stadion an der Gellertstraße for a massive community sports day, according to the Stadtsportbund Chemnitz e. V. The event follows a successful 2025 gathering held during the city’s European Capital of Culture year, which drew approximately 8,500 visitors, per organizers.
Twelve Aktivtouren Link Chemnitz and Surrounding Areas
V. and the C³ Chemnitzer Veranstaltungszentren GmbH, the 2026 event features twelve distinct Aktivtouren designed to encourage active participation across different fitness levels and disciplines. These routes converge at the eins-Stadion an der Gellertstraße to create a shared community finish line.
The twelve official routes and their organizing partners, as detailed by event organizers, include:
- Wandertour (12 km): Organized by the Wanderclub 1951 Chemnitz e. V.
- Laufradtour: Organized by the Kindersportschule Chemnitz.
- Kinderlauf: Organized by the Kindersportschule Chemnitz.
- Einradtour (approx. 20 km): Organized by the TSV Einheit Süd Chemnitz e. V.
- Rollitour: Organized by the ASB Ortsverband Chemnitz und Umgebung e. V.
- Mitsmachtriathlon: Organized by Triathlon Chemnitz e. V.
- MTB-Tour: Organized by the SV IKA Chemnitz e. V.
- Orientierungslauf: Organized by the USG Chemnitz e. V.

- Inline Skating: Organized by Chemnitzer Nachtskaten and exclusiv events.

- WALK UNITED: Presented by AOK PLUS and the Sparkasse Chemnitz.
WALK UNITED Offers an Advanced 34-Kilometer Challenge
For endurance athletes and dedicated walkers, WALK UNITED serves as the most demanding physical test of the festival. Presented by AOK PLUS and the Sparkasse Chemnitz, the 34-kilometer trek takes participants through the scenic landscape surrounding Chemnitz, requiring them to conquer approximately 700 meters of elevation gain, according to event records.

Participants registering for WALK UNITED pay a 15 euro entry fee that includes trail provisions, per event announcements. Walkers can select from three distinct pace categories based on their conditioning: a family and leisure pace of 4 kilometers per hour, a classic pace of 5 kilometers per hour, and an athletic pace of 6 kilometers per hour. Organizers note that the course features three designated supply checkpoints along the route before participants return to the stadium between 3:00 PM and 5:00 PM.
SPORTY Vereinmeile Showcases More Than 45 Sports
Inside the eins-Stadion an der Gellertstraße, the SPORTY activity mile acts as an interactive exhibition space for local athletics. V., which represents 85 member clubs, local sports clubs use the platform to introduce attendees to more than 45 different sports disciplines.

Admission to SPORTS UNITED, including stadium activities and the vast majority of the Aktivtouren, remains entirely free for the public. The day’s schedule also features a small-field football tournament, an e-sports area, darts and skat competitions, stadium tours, and DANCE UNITED—a mass choreography performance where local dance groups and attendees perform together on the stadium turf.
