Authorities recovered a body from the lake at Hollenbeck Park in Boyle Heights on Thursday morning, according to the Los Angeles Police Department. Investigators responded to the park following reports of a person in the water, prompting a multi-hour police presence at the scene.
Police Response at Hollenbeck Park
The Los Angeles Police Department received an emergency call at approximately 10:40 a.m. regarding a possible body in the water, according to department spokespersons. The park, situated in the 400 block of South St. Louis Street, was partially cordoned off as emergency personnel arrived.
First responders remained active at the location past 2 p.m., according to police reports. Aerial and ground footage published on Citizen showed what appeared to be a body covered by a white cloth lying near the edge of the lake. Yellow caution tape was strung between a park railing and a nearby palm tree to secure the perimeter while investigators worked.
Ongoing Investigation Into the Boyle Heights Incident
As of Thursday afternoon, local law enforcement officials had not released the identity of the deceased individual. Investigators also withheld any official determination regarding the cause of death.
