The Gymnastik Riege Dedenbach reported continued membership growth and active community engagement during its annual general meeting on August 20, according to club leadership. Led by Chairperson Irmgard Harst, the organization highlighted successful excursions, safety training initiatives, and robust financial health heading into its upcoming 50th-anniversary milestone.
Membership Growth and Club Activities
According to the chairperson’s report delivered by Irmgard Harst, the club’s membership numbers are trending upward due to a diverse range of athletic and social offerings. Recent organizational outings, including a trip to the Mosel region and a visit to the Haus der Geschichte, drew strong participation from members. Instructors leading the physical training sessions also reported high attendance rates during weekly classes and outlined upcoming instructional goals for their groups.
Among the individual milestones recognized by the club, instructor Rita Kreyer marked 40 years of service to the organization, having received an official honor for her tenure in May. The meeting opened with a traditional remembrance of deceased members, followed by a review of organizational plans for the upcoming year.
Safety Training and Anniversary Preparations
To improve emergency preparedness across all training groups, 27 club members completed a first-aid training course administered by the German Red Cross (DRK) in Niederzissen, as outlined in the annual report. Looking ahead, the association is preparing to celebrate its 50th anniversary next year, which will serve as the primary focus for the community.
Additional social events scheduled for the calendar include a planned tour to Rüdesheim, which has already drawn a record number of registered participants. A summer camp held during a weekend of high temperatures in collaboration with local table tennis enthusiasts proved successful; organizers confirmed the event will return next year at the “Hütte Schau ins Land” location.
Event Adjustments and Financial Health
The club’s traditional annual hiking day is adopting a revised format this year. Rather than a circular route, participants will embark on a point-to-point trek starting in Dedenbach and ending at Burgbrohl. The destination coincides with the 125th-anniversary celebrations of the Brohltal Railway, where the hike will conclude before members return home via public transportation.
On the financial front, treasurers Elisabeth Michels and Birgit Distelrath delivered positive fiscal reports. Auditors Kirsten Maur-Ockenfels and Katja Rutkowski confirmed a thorough and orderly inspection of the accounts, subsequently recommending the formal discharge of the executive board. With no new elections scheduled on the agenda, the meeting concluded with a social gathering for attending members.
