Former New York City Mayor Rudy Giuliani has been hospitalized in critical but stable condition in Florida, according to a statement released Sunday by his spokesperson. The 81-year-old is receiving medical care for an undisclosed ailment, just days after appearing on his online broadcast, “America’s Mayor Live,” where he noted that he was under the weather and experiencing voice strain.
President Trump and Former Mayor Adams Issue Statements
President Donald Trump confirmed Giuliani’s hospitalization in a post on Truth Social, describing him as a “True Warrior” and praising his tenure leading New York City. “What a tragedy that he was treated so badly by the Radical Left Lunatics, Democrats ALL — AND HE WAS RIGHT ABOUT EVERYTHING!” Trump wrote on the platform.

Former New York City Mayor Eric Adams also shared a message of support on X, formerly Twitter, wishing Giuliani a speedy recovery. Adams recalled sharing a cigar with Giuliani in Florida and stated that he is saving another one for when the former mayor returns home. “Mayor @RudyGiuliani devoted his life to this city, from his days as a federal prosecutor to leading New York through 9/11,” Adams wrote.
Health Background and Recent Incidents
Giuliani’s hospitalization follows a series of recent health challenges and public appearances. In August, Giuliani and his spokesperson and driver, Theodore Goodman, were involved in a motor vehicle accident on Interstate 93 in New Hampshire. According to New Hampshire State Police, the rented Ford Bronco they were traveling in was struck from behind by a 19-year-old driver after the pair had pulled over to render aid at a domestic violence scene.
During court proceedings in June 2024 related to his bankruptcy case and a $148 million defamation judgment won by two Georgia election workers, Giuliani’s legal team revealed that he has a possible 9/11-related lung disease stemming from his response efforts following the September 11, 2001, terrorist attacks.
