Niantic has officially announced the launch of Pokémon GO’s latest seasonal update, Twilight Trails, running from Tuesday, September 8, 2026, at 10:00 a.m. to Tuesday, December 1, 2026, at 10:00 a.m. local time, according to announcements from Pokémon GO Hub. The new season centers heavily on content inspired by the Paldea region from Pokémon Scarlet and Pokémon Violet, alongside new Mega-Evolved Pokémon and expanded Dynamax battles at Power Spots.
Paldean Debuts and Mega Raid Updates
Trainers will see several species originally discovered in the Paldea region arrive in the mobile game during the Twilight Trails season. According to Pokémon GO Hub, Paldean additions include Maschiff and Mabosstiff. Alongside these regional debuts, Niantic plans to introduce additional Mega-Evolved Pokémon through upcoming Mega Raid Days. These events tie into the broader Mega Evolution progression and the upcoming Mega Squads event, as well as a scheduled September Community Day Classic.

Dynamax Additions and Max Battle Days
The feature set for Max Battles expands significantly with the Twilight Trails update. According to Pokémon GO Hub, players can encounter and battle new Dynamax Pokémon at Power Spots, including Dynamax Rhyhorn, Dynamax Sneasel, and Dynamax Sizzlipede. Additionally, a dedicated Max Battle Day will feature the appearance of legendary Dynamax Pokémon Uxie, Mesprit, and Azelf.
GO Pass Progression and Tier Rewards
Twilight Trails introduces a limited-time progression track called the GO Pass, alongside a paid variant known as the GO Pass Deluxe for players seeking accelerated progression and bonus rewards. According to Pokémon GO Hub, completing pass tasks awards GO Points to raise ranks and unlock milestone perks:
- Tier 1 (Rank 1): One additional Candy when trading Pokémon, and guaranteed Candy XL for trainers level 31 and above.
- Tier 2 (Rank 25): Increased limits for opening Gifts, receiving items from PokéStop and Gym Photo Discs, and storing Gifts.
- Tier 3 (Rank 50): Double the daily duration for Daily Adventure Incense.
- Tier 4 (Rank 75): Increased Stardust and XP rewards from hatching Eggs.
Seasonal Research and Egg Pools
Field Research tasks throughout Twilight Trails will remain active for the duration of the season rather than cycling monthly, with the exception of Spinda encounters, which continue to rotate on a monthly basis, according to Pokémon GO Hub. Research Breakthrough encounters will feature a rotating selection of season-themed Pokémon.
